"Ejar”: Over 4.5 Million Contracts Documented in the Network and 4 Million Deals Recorded by the Rental Index by the End of September

Tuesday, 11 October 2022

The “Ejar” program announced surpassing 4.5 million electronically authenticated rental contracts documented in the Electronic Rental Services Network, while the Rental Index recorded around 4 million rental transactions by the end of September. This announcement was made during a workshop held on Tuesday evening as part of the Restatex Jeddah Real Estate Exhibition.

Abdulrahman Al-Sinan, Senior Client Relationship Manager at Ejar, emphasized during the workshop titled “The Impact of Ejar on the Rental Real Estate Market and Its Role in Improving the Investment Environment” that authenticated residential rental contracts in the Ejar program have exceeded 3.8 million contracts, while commercial rental contracts have surpassed 700,000 contracts. He also noted that approximately 4 million rental transactions were recorded by the Rental Index, comprising both residential and commercial deals, across more than 16 cities covering all regions of the Kingdom. He highlighted that such data ensures transparency and encourages investment in the rental real estate sector in Saudi Arabia. The service is accessible through the Sakani platform via the link: https://sakani.sa/reports-and-data

Al-Sinan explained that Ejar is a fully integrated electronic network designed to regulate the rental real estate sector in the Kingdom and to safeguard the rights of all parties involved in rental transactions (tenants, landlords, and real estate brokers). He stated that the platform offers a range of electronic solutions to advance and organize the rental real estate sector, streamline operations, and create a balanced market that enhances trust and encourages investment. This is accomplished through contract authentication, activation of contracts as enforceable legal documents, and the protection of all parties’ rights with standardized contracts approved by the Ministry of Justice, which has significantly reduced disputes in the rental sector and improved overall efficiency.

He further noted that Ejar provides a wide range of features and electronic tools that add significant value to the real estate sector, including  electronic handover and delivery services, a rental behavior feature to evaluate rental experiences, the Rental Index, the ability to register contracts through real estate platforms, and contract authentication through the Sakani platform. The latter feature was recently launched to allow landlords, tenants, or their representatives to approve the authentication of residential rental contracts registered in Ejar, serving as one of the various contract approval channels. Other services, coupled with strong collaboration and coordination with regulatory and service entities, have played a major role in achieving these milestones, meeting the needs of stakeholders in the rental real estate market, including landlords, tenants, real estate brokers, and investors.

It is worth noting that Ejar, with its continuously developing services, plays a key role in reducing disputes, protecting the rights of all contracting parties, and enhancing confidence in the market. Strategic partnerships with service entities have been established to enable tenants to transfer utility services under their names, in addition to documenting financial transactions between parties through electronic payments. Ejar also provides multiple payment channels for rental installments, including  “Mada” and “SADAD.”
