Ejar program, one of the initiatives under the Ministry of Housing, announced its ongoing efforts to accommodate and authenticate all types of rental contracts—both residential and commercial—for entities in both the public and private sectors, while providing value-added services designed to address their needs.
    In a press statement issued today, the program emphasized its commitment to organizing the rental sector, simplifying rental procedures, and delivering services that facilitate the rental process between all parties—whether entities or individuals. It also aims to streamline government-related procedures, enabling various government entities to register their properties and authenticate their rental contracts through the Ejar network. This aligns with Cabinet resolutions mandating that government entities register their rental contracts in the Electronic Rental Services Network, as well as requiring government entities that rely on rental agreements for service provision to use the Ejar platform for contract verification. In line with these objectives, the program has formed strategic partnerships and established electronic integrations with several government bodies to simplify transactions. These include: the Balady portal for issuing and renewing municipal permits, the Ministry of Justice for enforcement processes, as well as integrated systems for data verification with the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, Ministry of Justice, the General Authority for Zakat and Tax, and other government entities.
In this context, the General Authority for Guardianship over Minors and Those in Similar Situations began registering its managed properties and authenticating rental contracts for both residential and commercial properties through the Ejar platform. This integration grants the Authority a dedicated account within the network that carries the same privileges and features as an accredited real estate broker, allowing it to register properties, delegate landlords authorized to sign contracts, and complete the authentication process digitally. These measures support the Authority’s role in economic and social development and in strengthening social solidarity.
The Ejar program highlighted that its numerous strategic partnerships and integrations with government systems have played a significant role in boosting trust in the rental sector and advancing the services offered through the Electronic Rental Services Network. In 2020, the platform recorded over one million rental contracts, covering both residential and commercial sectors.
Specifically, more than 850,000 residential rental contracts and over 140,000 commercial rental contracts were registered, with 33% of residential contracts utilizing the monthly payment feature.
The Ejar program seeks through residential and commercial contract authentication service to facilitate rental transaction procedures and document them to enhance confidence between parties, register mutual obligations between landlords, tenants, and real estate brokers in the real estate rental sector. The program also aims to authenticate rental contracts and preserve all parties' rights, formulate unified rental contracts that meet beneficiaries' needs, contribute to improving real estate rental sector performance and raising its contribution to the gross domestic product, in addition to reducing disputes related to the real estate rental sector.
